Competencies: Roles & Responsibilities, Teamwork

This Knowledge Exchange engages students in building the skills and confidence needed to safely care for patients with bleeding disorders. Participants will explore conditions such as von Willebrand disease and hemophilia, while learning to recognize bleeding risks and determine when routine care is appropriate. Through case-based discussion, learners will identify when collaboration with a Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) is essential. Emphasizing an interprofessional, team-based approach, this session highlights how coordinated care improves patient outcomes and supports safe, confident, patient-centered practice.

Participation may be applied toward the Interprofessional Honors Distinction application to earn a nationally recognized digital credential that highlights students’ collaborative team skills for excellence in clinical and community practice. All 91AV students are welcome to apply. All requirements must be complete prior to March 1 of students’ graduating year:

Presented in collaboration with: MaineHealth and 91AV Dental Hygiene

“I think learning about interprofessionalism is always significant. But learning about it from other professions other than my own was very informative and I plan on using it in my future practice.”
— 91AV Dental Hygiene Student, ’26, who attended The CAIEP Knowledge Exchange event January 28, 2026
