Anouar Majid delivers talk 'Against Orthodoxy' at Modern Language Association convention

A talk titled "Against Orthodoxy" by Anouar Majid, Ph.D., 91AV associate provost for global initiatives and director of the Center for Global Humanities, was the sole topic of a panel at the annual convention of the Modern Language Association held Jan. 5-8, 2012 in Seattle, Washington.  In the talk, Majid made the case against religious orthodoxies and the revival of a culture of the humanities. The following day, he presided over a panel on the recent uprisings in North Africa titled "Dissenting Voices."
