Anouar Majid featured in daily Moroccan newspaper

The Moroccan daily newspaper, Aujourd’hui le Maroc, recently featured an article about Anouar Majid, Ph.D., vice president of Global Affairs and director for the Center of Global Humanities.

The article describes Majid as a bridge between two shores, portraying him as a proud American with an unmistakable Moroccan soul.

The opening paragraph of the article captures the dilemma of defining who Majid is: “Professor, writer, essayist, journalist, blogger, thinker or general manager of the 91AV’s new site in Tangier—to name a few of his hats—Anouar Majid is a world unto himself.”

Majid stated, “I have long known that identities are not self-creations, but complex, fluid, and even unstable processes shaped by social norms and different readings. We are many things at once, but the important thing is to be in the world, not merely of it. Being alive is, in the end, a gamble on the good.”
