Anouar Majid gives keynote address at International Conference on Cultures and Languages in Contact

On December 4, 2014, Anouar Majid, Ph.D., vice president of Global Affairs and director of the Center for Global Humanities, delivered the opening keynote address at the third International Conference on Cultures and Languages in Contact, which was hosted by the University Chouaib Doukkali in the Moroccan city of El Jadida.

Titling his talk "The End of Post-Colonialism," Majid reflected on the connections between language and culture, why Morocco is hampered by the lack of a national language, why Arabs, Muslims and Africans are mere consumers of other people’s innovation and why they need to become active participants in the process of global development.
