'New York Times' publishes Anouar Majid’s reaction to letter to editor on globalization

On May 31, 2014, The New York Times published a response by Anouar Majid, Ph.D., vice-president for Global Affairs and director of the Center for Global Humanities, to a letter to the editor about globalization written by William Wishard.

In his letter of reaction, Majid states: “The process of globalization, as Mr. Wishard notes, can be a traumatic experience to people on both sides of the fence.  But globalization remains a two-way street.”  He notes that while people often think that “America is imposing its ways on the world,” American culture has been influenced by other cultural groups since its inception.
