Ursula R枚se invited to speak at the Gordon Research Conference 鈥楶lant Volatiles鈥

Ursula R枚se, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Biology, was an invited speaker at the Gordon Research Conference 鈥淧lant Volatiles,鈥 which was held January 26-31, 2014, in Ventura, California.

R枚se鈥檚 talk on the "Inducibility of Volatile and Non-Volatile Compounds in Brown Macroalgae and Their Effect on Herbivore Behavior" included her work with two undergraduate student co-authors, Janithri Wickranamayake (Biology 鈥14) and former undergraduate student Kyle Martin (Biology 鈥13), who is currently working on his Ph.D. in plant biology at Cornell University.

R枚se鈥檚 research focuses on Fucus vesiculosus, a brown macroalgae in the intertidal zone in Biddeford Pool, and snail and isopod herbivores that induce the emission of halocarbons as well as non-volatile compounds.
