Ali Ahmida interviewed on WGME on extremist organizations

On June 17, 2015, WGME aired an interview with Ali Ahmida, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Political Science, on the reported killing of a top Al-Qaeda leader in Yemen on June 12.

Ahmida expressed his view that dealing with extremist organizations, such as Al-Qaeda, requires a great deal more than eradicating their leaders. "I’m afraid that confronting Al-Qaeda and the extremist organizations…is not going to be just be killing the leaders," he said. "There has to be comprehensive policy dealing with state-building and also national reconciliation in these countries, so people will be united against extremists."
