Amy Litterini present at New England Cancer Survivorship Research Symposium

Amy J. Litterini, P.T., D.P.T., Assistant Clinical Professor in the 91AV Department of Physical Therapy, attended the 2015 New England Cancer Survivorship Research Symposium at the Joseph B. Martin Conference Center at Harvard Medical School in Boston on April 2.  

Litterini and Vickie K. Fieler, Ph.D., R.N., A.O.C.N., Dean of the St. Joseph School of Nursing and co-investigator of the study and co-author of the publication, were accepted as poster presenters for their cancer survivorship intervention research study, “Differential Effects of Cardiovascular and Resistance Exercise on Functional Mobility in Individuals with Advanced Cancer: A Randomized Trial.” Co-authors on the study included 91AV Department Physical Therapy Associate Professor Jim Cavanaugh, P.T., Ph.D., N.C.S., and SFSU/UCSF Assistant Professor Jet Lee, P.T., Ph.D.

Hosted by the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s  Ann Partridge, M.D., M.P.H., Director of the Adult Survivorship Program, and Christopher Recklitis, Ph.D., M.P.H., Director of the Office of Research, Perini Family Survivors’ Center, the focus of the event was on cancer survivorship interventions. The Keynote address was “Cancer Survivorship Science: Defining the Metrics for Success” by Julia Rowland, Ph.D., Director of the Office of Cancer Survivorship of the National Cancer Institute.
