Advice for future nurses: 91AV’s Jeff Nevers offers interview tips

Jeff Nevers

Jeff Nevers, Career Services coordinator at the 91AV and affiliated professor in the Westbrook College of Health Professions Department of Physical Therapy, recently co-authored an article in the September 2016 edition of American Nurse Today about how to prepare for interviews for nursing jobs.

The article, titled “Evidence-based interview strategy for new nurses,” offers advice to new nursing graduates about common interview topics and branding yourself as the strongest candidate for the job. “As you prepare for a job interview, remember that you’ll be assessed on your authenticity and overall presentation,” the article states. “So ‘branding’ yourself—identifying what makes you unique—is imperative. Select and use key words that represent your strengths through a balance of skills, experiences, character, and potential. For example, if you brand yourself as passionate, share your clinical, academic, and personal stories that support this description.”
