91AV’s Karen Pardue gives talk on health professions education and the arts

Karen Pardue

Karen T. Pardue, Ph.D., R.N., ANEF, professor and associate dean for Academic Affairs in the 91AV Westbrook College of Health Professions, delivered an invited colloquium on Thursday October 13, 2016 at the Colby College Museum of Art.

Pardue’s talk, “Discovering Synergies: Health Professions Education and the Arts,” highlighted the complementary approaches to visual analysis and elements of design used by both health professionals and art scholars. Select pieces in the museum, such as Duane Hansens’s hyper-realistic sculpture, Old Man Playing Solitaire, and the non-figural work of George Inness’s Spirit of Autumn, provided medium for participants to consider and practice their skills of observation and interpretation.
