Beginning in June 2016, fourth-year students from the College of Dental Medicine will be completing clinical rotations at Federally Qualified and other community health centers in Aroostock and Penobscot Counties. One of these health centers, Waldo County Dental Care, has recently received a $10,000 grant from the Maine Women’s Fund “to help vulnerable Waldo County women improve their health, wellness and economic security by providing timely dental care, oral health education and referrals for community support services.”

Waldo County Dental Care has been providing oral health services to low-income residents since 2013, and currently has a five-month waiting list. With the addition of the 91AV Dental Medicine students, who will primarily treat emergency and priority care patients, the clinic will be able to accommodate 16 more appointments each week.
