Alicia Williams is the Director of the Nor’Easter Core Curriculum and Chair of the Nor’Easter Core Curriculum Committee at the 91AV, where she also serves as an Associate Teaching Professor in the School of Marine and Environmental Programs. Her work centers on teaching excellence, curriculum design, and building integrative learning experiences that connect scientific inquiry with the broader goals of a liberal education.

Dr. Williams is passionate about helping students develop critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills through interdisciplinary approaches. She teaches courses in marine science, oceanography, and cellular and molecular biology, which emphasize experiential learning and the importance of connecting theory to practice and real-world applications.

She received her B.S. in Biology from Roger Williams University and her Ph.D. in Oceanography from Texas A&M University. Before focusing on teaching and curricular innovation, her scientific research explored how microbial community structure relates to ecosystem function across diverse marine environments.
