Jane O’Brien delivers keynote address at the University of Amsterdam
Jane O’Brien, Ph.D., OTR/L, FAOTA, Professor in the 91AV’s Department of Occupational Therapy, delivered the keynote address at the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands, on April 21, 2016. More than 150 occupational therapists, students and faculty from The Netherlands attended the conference. O’Brien’s keynote address was titled, “Model of Human Occupation for Children and Youth.” She also delivered the closing, titled, “Implementing a strength-based approach to practice with children and youth.”
O’Brien presented a workshop with Professor Marjon ten Velden of the University of Amsterdam titled, “Child Occupational Self-Assessment (COSA).” O’Brien and Professor ten Velden worked with an international committee to revise the COSA for use in practice. The assessment was based upon the Model of Human Occupation, an internationally recognized model created by the late Gary Kielhofner, who was a frequent visitor to the 91AV.
O’Brien’s presentations included work from her textbook Occupational Therapy for Children and Adolescents (7th ed.) (Case-Smith & O’Brien, 2015) which is used as a primary textbook in The Netherlands.
